Hellonjour!
I was asked to come to France for a weekend when the French running target national team is having a training camp in Paris so I couldn't resist. I felt like it's my chance because training in Finland besides doing the "nine to five" isn't so professional. Seldom training shooting is professional but always worth spending money and time on. :)
Of course I had to go because I also missed French friends I had seen in Granada WCH and in the co-operation camp in Inkoo back in the summer. As I assumed, it was worthy time in France and I know I will visit Paris again for a training camp (and Disneyland).
Although I had my fears they turned out to be false and I didn't end up eating sushi on every meal. At Insep the food was ok, by which I mean not very spicy but of quality ingredients. I've been flavouring my own cookings quite much so it's a stun to eat food in a large canteen.
The difference between an athlete and an amateur is most often in the food one tends to eat. Lately I've been trying to invest in my nutrition and done it quite well. To be honest I never felt this healthy and as a consequence my training in the range and the gym is of better quality than before. More to gain from the same hours spent is always a leap forward!

This is on slow runs, score in SIUS 10.6, 10.7 and 10.6. Trigger pressure in right.

Duh... Scatt doesn't match the reality with my technique ;) |
As in daily basis, I also went to the gym. On Thursday after working my back we went back to shooting and against all odds it wasn't very different from the training before the gym. I hadn't done this before so it was about time to try. In conclusion I'd say it is just an advantage if you work your muscles besides shooting. Since my photographer doesn't like to lift weights there's no media of my Arnoldish training, but maybe I'll get that later.

Years & years, day to day, endless training, endless progress |
Some montage on slow runs. Sometimes ten, sometimes nine, but always ten.
Since my tour leader and chief of mission has lived in Paris for many years we went also watching the city by night. I've read books and watched movies of these places and then I was there. It's a wow.

Great trips come with great memories. All I had to do is take the chance and forget about any preconceptions I had. Working together with people of different nationality is very rewarding. Talking with other language than your mother tongue about familiar topics and doing things a bit different from the normal always leads into a new tracks in thinking. Going global in sports just because of the sport and meeting people with same interests on other walks of life is a fruitful experience. I think we'll meet again in May, France!
Until next time,
Jani
